I planned the lessons and turned them into the supervising teacher. She had to be in the school. It is probably a similar situation.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07554535335935709156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10378966.post-34188540602673531232008-05-04T21:57:00.000-04:002008-05-04T21:57:00.000-04:00@ alotalot My student teaching was the same way. I...@ alotalot My student teaching was the same way. I hated that a sub was paid to just sit there while I taught on days my cooperating teacher was out.

This program is different. The student teachers are in our building from the first day of school to the last. They spend the first half of the year in one grade level and the second half in a complimentary grade level (upper and primary). A professor is in once a week doing observations and leads after schools seminars every other week. By the time they get to their independent teaching they've been vetted. They don't get to do it unless everyone is sure they're ready.

I went in a few times during the four weeks. Twice to do formal observations and a couple of other times just to see the fun stuff they were doing. But, the great majority of the time, I was out doing other things.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04725549451973770515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10378966.post-16262612503103715972008-05-04T15:48:00.000-04:002008-05-04T15:48:00.000-04:00I am just curious...when I did my practice teachin...I am just curious...

when I did my practice teaching, I was not allowed to be alone in the room without a certified teacher. (this was in New Jersey) If my co-op teacher was absent, they had to hire someone to be with me. Why don't you have to be there to supervise?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
