Stretching Out of My Comfort Zone

In a burst of insanity I registered for ds106 this summer semester. The theme this time around is Camp Magic Macguffin. I've been following ds106 for a while now but never felt an urge to participate. It seemed out of my realm of competence. We'll see if I was right then or if jumping in was a smart choice.

So far, it's hard to say. With only a few weeks left in the school year and a sprint triathlon tomorrow morning I haven't been able to find the brain space for ds106. Writing this post is the first step in breaking through that wall. I intend to at least try some of the Daily Creates in the next week. That and commenting on others' creations is likely all I can handle right at the moment. I hope before the summer is over I will have achieved much greater things.

Just do what you can, there is no expectation of open participants to do everything, that's what makes ds106 different form all the other MOOCs.

Our mantra is "ds106 is never having to say you're sorry, no apologies"

It's great that you broke through the wall! There is no"sorry" but let's make a deal: I won't let you quit, you won't let me quit... I struggle with making enough time and brainspace for ds106, too, but it's important work. Let's do it! :)

The greater the challenge, the sweeter the reward...who knows what you can do if you don't just go for it? I thought I was in over my head when I went back for my teaching certification, and now I'm finally there! The process every day of committing and following through turned out to be an amazing experience. Thanks to your blog, I had plenty of motivation and inspiration. Good luck!

Hatchet Jack is here to keep these campers moving forward. With a Hatchet if needed....

PS. You have an awesome blog going here.

You will live to regret this :)

Alan, you and Martha have both quoted that mantra and it will likely be a frequent thought in my head!

Cheryl, thanks for the encouragement. I love the idea of a ds106 buddy, each keeping the other going!

Maggie, congratulations! You are right about the importance of every day process of committing and following through. If I value the learning I can gain here (and I do) that has to be the plan.

Jack, that hatchet will be a powerful motivation!

Jim, just what I feared. Thanks.
